First week of RL NFL

How did your fav team do? What surprised you the most in the first games of the season? Here are some notes....

The opening week of the 2026 NFL season delivered an absolute historic offensive explosion, tying the Super Bowl-era record with 791 total points and featuring unique final score margins across all 16 games for the first time ever.

High-Octane Chicago: The Bears and Panthers combined for a record 96 points in a wild 59-38 opener, showcasing Caleb Williams' multi-touchdown mastery under Ben Johnson. Amazing offense by the Bears, which is a different look for them compared to previous offenses, they have been more known for defense and BA LBs up till now.

Buffalo Prevails: The Bills downed the Texans 36-31 in a thriller, finally breaking a long-standing slump in Houston behind a sharp offensive showing. Allen does it again, he is an amazing QB.

Backup Magic: After Kyler Murray exited with a concussion, backup quarterback Carson Wentz sparked 29 unanswered points and three TDs in a stunning comeback win over the Packers. Good to see a guy like Wentz have his day again.

Derrick Henry: Proved he has plenty left in the tank by rumbling for 144 yards and three scores in the Ravens' 41-23 rout of the Colts, moving up the all-time touchdown list. What a horse Henry is.

T.J. Watt: Dominated early play for Pittsburgh with two sacks, multiple stops, and an interception in a 20-13 win over Atlanta. That and the Steelers win had to make trslick a happy camper, :)

The Chiefs came out of the shoot real strong, dominating the Broncos. Did you see the heavy backfield formation they were using? Beef Run Formation, lol. Walkers debut at RB was outstanding. Very impressive beginning for the Chiefs.

Trevor Lawrence put on a sharp performance in the opener: The Jaguars quarterback threw four touchdowns without an interception and earned an initial 86.2 PFF passing grade. The Jags looked real good on defense also.

Has any team had it worse with the QB position than the Browns? And had to pay so much for so little? Grim

Ravens receiver Zay Flowers caught five of his six targets for 150 yards and a touchdown despite running only 11 routes. That works out to a ridiculous 13.64 yards per route run, and his initial 94.0 PFF receiving grade was the best among receivers in the early window. Combined with Henry's performance, Ravens are def looking like contenders.

The Giants looked great in HC Harbaugh's first game, QB Dart had a record setting performance with a 130 QB efficiency rating. Was great to see Skatteboo back and healthy again. For all the off season hype and expectations, the Cowboys looked like the same Cowboys from last season, horrible defense.

Happy with win, just could have been much better!

Week 3 and there has been a lot of high profile injuries, especially QBs! what a shame to see Dart go down after such a great start. Just saw where the Giants traded for JJ McCarthy, that will be interesting to see if he develops and gets anywhere near where his potential was thought to be. I think the pass rush and blitzes by 250 - 300 pound beasts is a major factor. DL have gotten bigger but even more importantly, faster. There are many seriously scary dudes at DE edge rushers and LB blitzers, lol. This last week saw a lot of upsets, the dogs were runnin! Raider fans must be ecstatic and the decision to get Cousins has proven to be a real good one so far, with Mendoza waiting in the wings. Been an amazing turnaround for them, like when I take over a messed up MFN roster, lol. One thing Ive noticed, its taken long enough but I think that HC's and defensive coords have learned that pass rush pressure, especially late in a game with a one score lead is better than 6 or 7 defensive backs playin zone with a big cushion on the WRs.

WOW, 3 tight finishes in the early games of week 4. Cowboys Prescott to Lamb pulls off the last drive TD to beat the Texans, Lamb had 18 catches and close to 200 yds! Cards got 1st and goal vs the Giants, and the Giants not only get the stop in first 3 downs, but get a pick 6 on 4th down. Was bummed not to see Case Keenum get the start for the Giants, thought he earned it in previous game. Burroghs and the Bengals ome up just short on final drive after a Jag barely steps out of bounds on previous drive to give the Bengals the chance. Great games! I watch em all on youtube, its awesome, no commercials and no downtime btw plays, football heaven, lol.
Rams come back in Philly late in the 4th, and finally win a close one, after losing several close ones over the past two seasons. Eagles injuries were horrible, both during game, Barkley at start of the game, and from last week, I would be howlin with that rack of inj's in MFN.
Pats/Bills down to the wire, thats a surprise, after the Pats got blown out by Jags last week. inlcluding a great TD catch with less than 2 min to go by Pat undraftee WR Chisum. Amazing win for the Pats.
Raiders almost pulled off a remarkable recovery after fumbling a two score lead to the Chiefs, another great game for the week.

Week 4 games are done, 3 teams are 4-0, can you name them without looking it up?

It has been one of the worst season starts ever for teams that were in last seasons PO's! with a combined record of 30-26 this season. That's the lowest winning percentage through four weeks by the previous season's playoff teams in the past 15 years, per ESPN Research.

Came up with nickname for the Falcon RBs, Bijan and Brian .... the Smash Family Robinson. Did you catch the Monday Night game? The Falcons run game was killer. And how good has 49er QB Purdy been? He's like the 6th round QB you pick in MFN that progresses 25 or more points. So many good stories goin on right now.
