Greetings, Owners!
I first, and foremost, want to thank you for joining the Continental Football League. I've been a member of MyFootballNow for some time now. I've had a HUGE hiatus due to having children, moving about different states, and some other real life commitments. It has been really good to get back into this again.
I do understand the MFN population has dripped and there are a couple leagues that I'm sure are great and there's players out there that are fantastic at running their league. I created this league simply for the purpose of having fun and having another outlet for players who enjoy being in multiple leagues and maybe some first-timers that happen to join to be in a place where they feel welcomed. As such, this league is aimed at openness and good competition across the teams. With this in mind, it is my job to not only ensure owners are respectable towards each other, but to make sure equality and friendliness amongst each other. I hope you envision the same while playing in the CFL.
I have a few visions for this league beyond just the camaraderie amongst the owners. I hope these visions will implement some fun spirits, fairness, and competitive drive within the players who join.
1. Owners who get their team to reach the "Super Bowl" and win will be eligible for a shout out in the league in the style of a "nfl.com" article/game recap. There could be other things in the works for SB winners that I will have to check with.
2. New owners who join the league can submit a "Cap Review". What this means is new owners who have taken over a team from a previous owner and is stuck in a precarious situation regarding their team financial, they can get ahold of me and I will review their financial situation. This particularly pertains to dead cap and can be eligible for up to a 50% cut in their dead cap. My hope is this will motivate new owners who take over a team feel more confident to be able to adjust their new team to how they see fit without the added burden of a previous owner's financial misspending.
3. I want to try and do an in-league weekly report on certain teams who are doing really well and those who are doing not so well. Kind of like a "Hot or Not" column. Though this may take a season or two to start, given background stats of previous season will be needed to determine how teams and players are doing on a season-by-season basis.
There are a few others that I may or may not decide to do once we get fully up and running. I will announce those as time passes and if I choose for it rather than against it.
Another thing I'd like to mention is I heavily considered just sitting back and letting the league flow as commissioner and letting owners fill the teams. I like the aspect of simply just managing and being in roles like that. But, I figured why not just be a part of it and enjoy some of the fun. So I have taken over a team. However, I will stress that I am completely about open fairness and equality. With that in mind, I will not give myself any additional power that I may have that others may not have. Such as slashing my own dead cap for whatever reason. If I take over a team, that team is my own responsibility with commissioner powers aside. So expect trust and fairness with me. I know how some people can be and having been on the receiving end of that (not here, but gaming in general), it's not morally something I can stand by. With my team, I'm an owner. With the league, I'm a commissioner. Two separate titles for two separate reasons.
On a final note, I appreciate anyone and everyone who joins the league and hopes to have fun with this. There's a few great leagues out there and my goal isn't for this one to be the best - but one that anyone can join and simply enjoy themselves and immerse into the story-telling each season. If there's any problems or issues, in particularly with another owner, don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'm always here.
Thank you for being a part of the Continental Football League. Let's have some fun!
- KCPunk, CFL League Commissioner
